ADVENT is the season of anticipation and preparation for the coming of the light of Christmas.
Advent consists of the four Sundays preceding Christmas.
On the first Sunday evening of Advent, we hold –
A Service of Hanging of the Greens - to decorate the sanctuary and explain the symbols of Christmas
LENT is the season of preparation for Easter.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and consists of the six weeks before Easter.
On Ash Wednesday, we hold -
An Ash Wednesday Service - to mark our foreheads with ashes to remind us of our mortality and
need for humility
MAUNDY or HOLY THURSDAY is the Thursday before Easter Sunday.
It is a service of remembering Jesus' giving of a new "mandate" - the command to love and serve one another.
On Maundy Thursday, we hold -
A Service of Maundy Thursday Communion
CHRISTMAS EVE is the celebration of the birth of Christ.
On Christmas Eve, we hold three services -
5:30 - A Family Service
9:00 - A service of Candlelight communion with special music
11:00 - A service of Candlelight communion with special music
