How to Join

There are two ways to join a United Methodist Church:
  • By Profession of Faith for those who are not members of another church, and
  • By transfer of membership from another church.  In transfers from other denominations, we recognize both baptism and membership in other churches.

Saint Mark's Charting Principles

The Bible - as the explanation (foundation) of our fellowship

Worship - as the inspiration for our fellowship

Hospitality - as the embrace of our fellowship

Diversity - as the expanse of our fellowship

Spiritual Growth - as the expectation of our fellowship

Service and Participation - as the manifestation of our fellowship

Personal Faith - as the experience of our fellowship

Missions - as the exhibition of our fellowship

New Member Orientation

Periodically we offer Membership Orientation Classes for new and prospective members.

The purpose of these eight-week classes is to learn about our faith, about Methodist emphases, about the people and programs of Saint Mark UMC specifically, and to get to know others who are members (and prospective members) of our faith community. We began a class April 11th and our next class will be in the Fall of 2010.

The class has proven to be very helpful in accomplishing our goal of creating that sense of belonging that is "community."  If you are considering membership at Saint Mark UMC, we hope you will come and be a part of this class experience.

For further information, please contact Steve or Jeff (882-2603). We like to arrange a personal visit with each person, couple, or family to discuss their membership desires and questions.
