WHAT IS SALKEHATHIE SUMMER SERVICE?
Salkehatchie Summer Service is for high school and college age youth drawn primarily from the South Carolina United Methodist Conference. Participants must be at least 14 years old by the beginning of the camp they attend. Adult leaders are present to offer guidance and support. There will be more than 2900 participants involved in 2005. During the week participants physically improve homes of needy families and reach out to these families and one another in friendship.
Forty-three camps will be at various locations around the state. One of those camps is located in Oconee County. Each camp runs from Saturday to Saturday. Camps are offered from May through July.OCONEE SALKEHATCHIE
Oconee Salkehatchie began on June 11 and concluded on June 18. Forty-eight youth and leaders from all over the state of SC were here at Saint Mark to work on four homes in our area. Church members and Sunday School Classes supported their efforts in a variety of ways. Thank you for your prayers and support for all of the youth and leaders participating in our Oconee camp. Here are the "before", "during" and "after" pictures that shows how much the four groups were able to accomplish during their week in Seneca:
