Meet, Eat, Travel and Serve (METS)
METS is a fellowship group for adults 55 and older.  They come together the fourth Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. for lunch, fellowship, and an interesting program.  On occasion they schedule special day and overnight trips.  The "S" in METS stands for service, so this group of active older adults is also involved in doing service projects in the church and community.

METS ACTIVITIES FOR THE REST OF 2008!

It is going to be a busy time in METS for the rest of 2008.  Be sure to mark your calendars and notify the appropriate people for any activities in which you wish to participate.

ANNUAL PICNIC - September 25, 11:30 p.m. at the Biggerstaff Retreat Center.  Bring your favorite covered dish and your reusable table service.  METS will furnish drinks and napkins and entertainment will be announced.  We do need to plan the table setup, so please call Jay Price (985-0736 or jaylprice@yahoo.com) by September 19 with your reservations.  There is no charge for this meeting.

MYRTLE BEACH - October 14-17.  This is another real favorite from the past.  It includes three nights at Springmaid Beach resort, three breakfast buffets, one evening show and dinner, and a pass to Brookgreen Gardens for the week.  The garden tour includes one day with a guide, then return visits on your own.  This is a real bargain at $158/person double occupancy for the resort plus $22 for Brookgreen.  Singles are $250 plus $22.  Please call the church office to reserve by September 1, with payment due to Dick Thompson by September 8.  You can call Gitte Walter (944-1832) if you have any questions.

NOVEMBER AT THE CHURCH - We will have our regular monthly pot-luck on November 20.  Check the October Navigator or this Website for details and program information.

APPALACIAN CHRISTMAS AT LAKE JUNALUSKA - This two-night stay on December 12-14 will cost $156/person double occupancy or $202 for a single.  The package includes accommodations, five meals and two evening concerts.  You can contact Andrea Paulson (944-0659 or andee0105@bellsouth.net)  if you have questions.  We will also have a sign-up sheet at the picnic.

Plans to use the church bus for both the out-of-town events are still tentative, but we will try to help with car-pooling as sign-up progresses.  Let us know if you arrange your own group.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the picnic, so have a great rest of the summer!
