A Contemporary Worship Service at St. Mark UMC, called the  “Celebration" Service, is held in the St. Mark Center every Sunday at 9:15 a.m.   Although following traditional Methodist doctrines, the Celebration Service is less formal in attire, liturgy, music, and general format.  It is a "come as you are" service for all ages.  The Celebration Service style includes both variety and spontaneity-- an organized service without the appearance of rituals.  Using a variety of instruments and so-called“praise songs", music is louder and faster in tempo than the current traditional services.

Rather than use hymnals, the song lyrics, scripture, and other aspects of the service are projected on a screen above the stage.  Generally, the order of worship includes opening songs, welcome and announcements, prayer, music, offertory, scripture, a message from Steve or Jeff with occasional lay messages or drama, closing music, and benediction.  The Celebration Service concludes before 10:00 a.m. to minimize any impact on Sunday school.  We invite you to come early for coffee, a tasty treat, and fellowship before we "Celebrate God’s Grace and Witness for Jesus Christ"!

Our Nursery Facility provides child care at all services.

Celebration "Face Lift"

CELEBRATION "FACE LIFT"

The Celebration Service “Face Lift” committee: (Steve Morgan, Jeff Childress. Bob Dobson, Bob Walker, Nancy Walker, Lavonne Sloop, Gary Gaulin, Jim Redmond, David Wilcox and former member, Gladys Chastain) would like to thank everyone who donated materials, finances, time, and talent to make our Celebration Service a more warm, intimate and worshipful space.  Special thanks to Tommy and Nell Hodge, who provided beautiful new fabrics for curtains and stage skirting. Charlotte H. Gates provided the finances to have new carpet installed for the stage area.  Sherwin Williams provided the paint for the accent back wall.  Other improvements were to lengthened and fabric cover the sound boards for a fresh and finished look.  New silk plants were purchased and Sue Jolley used her decorating skills arranging them.  Finally to our own committee member, Nancy Walker, who did all of the sewing for the curtains and stage shirting, which was a massive undertaking.  A very special thanks for her for her gift of time and talent.  Others who worked behind the scenes and did not get mentioned are none the less thanked and appreciated by the Face Lift team.  We hope you are pleased with the new look.
